About Us

Our Mission

Our mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.

Program Overview

The First Tee Life Skills ExperienceTM is divided into five levels, starting with PLAYer for new participants ages 7 and up, progressing through Par, Birdie, Eagle and Ace. As participants certify in both golf and life skills within each level, they progress to the next level of the program. Each level of the Life Skills Experience is seamlessly integrated with our golf skills programming.

Completion of each level is defined as a participant’s ability to meet nationally instituted certification guidelines. The program is self-paced and encourages participants to explore and assess their abilities and set corresponding goals to meet national certification requirements. Certification is conducted periodically throughout the year during class as well as during separate certification events.

If you would like to introduce your five or six year old to golf and The First Tee Life Skills Experience, with an extra emphasis on fun and games, you may enroll your new participant in our Little Linkster classes. These classes meet for 45 minutes, once a week for eight consecutive weeks and use SNAG (Starting New at Golf) equipment, as well as traditional equipment, to expose children to basic life skills and The First Tee Nine Core Values.

History and Background

The First Tee of the Triangle began in 2000 as a vision of local developers and “kid advocates” Mike Peebles & Bob Winstead. Originally operating under the nonprofit status of Training Elite Athletes & Mentors, Inc, these gentlemen began the initial planning, performed a large percentage of the initial legwork, and explored various options for programming & facilities.
