Program Overview The First Tee of the Triangle's Golf and Life Skills Experience is divided into five levels, starting with PLAYer for new participants ages 7 and up, progressing through Par, Birdie, Eagle and Ace as participants certify in both Golf and Life Skills within each level so they may qualify to progress to the next level of the program. Each level of the Life Skills Experience is taught seamlessly with golf skills. Completion of each level is defined as a participant’s ability to meet nationally instituted certification guidelines. The program is self-paced, encouraging participants to explore and assess their abilities and set corresponding goals to meet national certification requirements. Certification is conducted periodically throughout the year during class as well as during separate certification events.
If you would like to introduce your 6 year old to golf and The First Tee Life Skills Experience, with an extra emphasis on fun and games, you may enroll your new participant in our TARGET classes. These TARGET classes meet for 45 minutes, once a week for eight consecutive weeks and use SNAG (Starting New at Golf) equipment, as well as traditional equipment, to expose children to basic Life Skills and The First Tee Nine Core Values.
PLAYer Level PLAYer is the introductory level of The First Tee Life Skills Experience for children ages 7-17 years old. Beginning January 2010, all participants will enter The First Tee Golf and Life Skills Experience at the PLAYer level. PLAYer teaches participants how to play the game of golf with special emphasis on learning golf, The First Tee Code of Conduct, and The First Tee Nine Core Values. These interpersonal and self-management skills will help our participants develop much more than their golf games.

Par Level The Par level builds on the PLAYer level by introducing PLAYers to the mental side of golf while learning skills that will help them on and off the golf course. The main focus of the Par level is to assist PLAYers in acquiring several self-management techniques that will help them in managing their thoughts, emotions and behaviors in order to perform at their best on and off the golf course.

|
Birdie Level Of all the life skills addressed in The First Tee Life Skills Experience, goal-setting is one of the most important. The Birdie Level affords PLAYers the opportunity to learn how to set and pursue their own goals, which will equip PLAYers with a greater sense of purpose, direction and motivation in their lives.

Eagle Level
The Eagle level is designed for PLAYers who have demonstrated a commitment to
both the game of golf and to attaining an associated set of Golf and Life Skills. The typical Eagle level PLAYer will demonstrate his/her ability to apply life skills, will have displayed a
progression of golf skill acquisition and performance, and have been a role model for
The First Tee Code of Conduct.

 |
|
Ace Level The Ace level offers advanced instruction and practice
in many of the Golf and Life Skills introduced in the PLAYer, Par, Birdie and Eagle levels. Ace
focuses on personal planning and reinforces interpersonal communication,
self-management, goal-setting, self-coaching and resistance skills that were
applied in earlier levels of The First Tee of the Triangle's Golf and Life Skills Curriculum.
